Camp Veggie: A Garden To Table Family Bonding Experience

To make Camp Veggie a SAFE and FUN experience:

  • We recommend you and your child apply sunscreen with at least SPF 50 and apply bug spray before arriving to Camp Veggie.

  • We recommend you bring water. We will have water on site, but always recommend you bring your own.

  • You will get dirty. Wear comfortable clothing that are OK to get dirty and in which you/your child can move freely.

  • Wear comfortable shoes. We will be outside, walking around the Donaldson campus, working in the greenhouses, and engaging with nature.

  • We will be using garden tools and a mini high-speed blender. Please watch your child to make sure they do not injure themselves with the tools in the gardens, greenhouses, and during the snack-preparation experience.

  • There may be interaction with animals at the Donaldson campus. You and your child may opt out of this or any portion of the Camp Veggie experience.

  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer (we will have plenty or you my bring your own) before camp, after working in the greenhouses, before/after touching animals, before/after food preparation and consumption.

  • If your child becomes overwhelmed or overstimulated, please take them to a quiet spot to allow them to regulate and decompress.

  • Ask questions. Be kind to the plants, people, animals, and property.

Camp Veggie For Kids

And their grown ups too!

Are you worried that your kids do not eat enough fruits and veggies?

At Culver Peds we are proud to partner with Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ at The Center At Donaldson to fulfill our mission to transform our children’s mind, body, spirit health by educating and empowering their families, communities, and schools.

Camp Veggie is a garden to table hands-on learning experience for the whole family.

We are looking forward to sharing Camp Veggie with the community to:

Develop joy for garden to table practices.

Identify the nutritional value of fruits, vegetables, and other foods.

Explain the ways connecting with the Earth keeps our bodies strong and healthy.

Prepare an age-appropriate healthful snack.

Demonstrate food hygiene practices.

Discover the taste of new healthy garden-grown foods.

Our aim is for campers to explore and LOVE the veggies on their plate for strong mind, body, spirit health.
