On The Job Injuries
If you are injured on the job or while on duty, you are entitled to Worker’s Compensation. This type of service is handled through the Main Campus Health Center. Please call them 574-842-7800 or proceed to the health center for an on the job injury. At Culver Pediatrics Staff clinic, we will treat you for any injury you sustain, but we will NOT fill out worker's comp insurance paperwork. We will NOT process worker's comp claims for X-rays, referrals to specialists, or medications related to the injury. For questions about whether an injury is subject to Worker’s Comp, ask your supervisor or call the health center.

For life- or limb-threatening emergencies (chest pain, shortness of breath, trouble breathing, stroke, severe injury) please call 911, campus safety, or proceed to the nearest emergency department.
1) If you are a new patient, and have never been evaluated by Culver Peds in previous summers, Please complete the enrollment online form.
2) Complete the Acute Illness or Acute Injury form.
3) After you complete the forms, Email Summer@CulverPediatrics.com. You will receive a response with medical advice within a few hours, the same day or next day depending on when you send her the message.
This email is NOT monitored between 7:30 PM - 9 AM. If you require immediate medical services during this time, and cannot wait for a response until the email is monitored, please proceed proceed to the nearest Emergency Department. Please talk to your supervisor if you need medical services outside of Culver Summer Clinic hours.
Appointments OUTSIDE of Culver Summer Clinic will incur a $350 fee billed to the CSSC employee’s credit card on file. The visit will be at our main location at 16427 18th Rd, Culver, IN. Must have a valid credit card to receive this service.

Please note: You MUST enroll as a patient to receive medical advice from anyone our team, even if we do not see you in person.Email Summer@CulverPediatrics.com if you only seek medical advice or for care that you feel does not require a doctor’s visit. This could be for things like minor wounds, allergy or cold symptoms, or simple rashes that just need over the counter medication. Response time for non-urgent questions is typically same or next day, depending on when the email was sent.
When in doubt, just stop by Culver Summer Staff Clinic.

We recommend arriving to clinic at 3 PM, at the time we open. Bottle necks tend to happen later in the day. While it is not required, we recommend completing the required forms BEFORE you arrive for more streamlined services.

Enter through the South Side entrance of Eagle Stadium, which faces the lake. You can use the elevators or stairs. DO NOT enter through the East Side entrance on top of the bleachers, even if you have a key. That door is locked, and you may be intruding on someone’s privacy by going in through that door.

For issues that do not require a Physician, like vaccines for college or work, injections previously prescribed by another physician (such as allergy shots, Depo shot, etc), scheduling lab work, or minor wound care, please email Summer@CulverPediatrics.com . The Summer Nurse will respond during business hours and schedule a time for you to come to our clinic at Eagle Stadium. Additional fees apply to some of these services, such as ear piercing and some vaccines.
When in doubt, stop by Culver Summer Staff Clinic. The Nurse is there daily.

Culver Summer Clinic will be closed and our team will not be available July 4th. We will not respond to texts, messages, or emails sent during that time. If you need medical care that cannot wait until we are able to respond to emails July 5th or the clinic reopens July 7th, these are some local options:

Dot Stop Med in Plymouth
The nearest emergency departments are Saint Joseph Health System in Plymouth and Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester.
We are not affiliated with any of these facilities. We cannot vouch for the quality of service you will receive. You are responsible for all costs. Please call these places beforehand to confirm hours of operation, cost, insurance coverage, and if they can handle your medical problem.

If you have fever, sore throat, cough, cold or allergy symptoms:
Take Acetaminophen (Tylenol, paracetamol) or Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) for pain, fever, sore throat. Take Ibuprofen with food to avoid upset tummy.
Hydration is very important. Drink at least 16 oz of water every 1-2 hours while awake.
Avoid cough suppressants (Robitussin) or decongestants (NyQuil, DayQuil) as these are not helpful and can worsen your symptoms.
For sore throat, salt water gargles (mix 1 tablespoon salt with a cup of warm water), hot herbal non-caffeinated tea (available at the dining halls), and cough drops with menthol are helpful.
For congestion, intranasal saline rinses are very helpful. Watch this instructional video on how to do this.
Take two tablespoons of honey (only for children over 1 year old) twice daily to help with cough and sore throat.
For nausea, you can take ginger tea. There are some anti-nausea medicines over the counter like Dramamine. Keep well hydrated.
For diarrhea, take Probiotics with at least 4Billion CFUs and keep yourself well hydrated.
Elderberry supplements will help decrease the duration and severity of most respiratory illnesses. These are available over the counter at CVS or online.
Rest as much as possible.

If you are unable to speak, have a high fever, cannot move your neck, cannot swallow, have trouble breathing, have severe pain, are vomiting repeatedly, get a new suddenly appearing rash, or have any other worrisome findings, please seek urgent medical care.

Remember: If you sustained the injury while on the job, on duty, then please proceed to the Main Health Center. This type of injury is subject to Worker’s Comp.
If you sustain a mild non-work related injury:
Take Acetaminophen (Tylenol, paracetamol) or Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) for pain.
Rest as much as possible
Ice the area
Wrap the area with self gripping tape, ACE wrap, or athletic tape, available over the counter at CVS in Culver or any pharmacy or online.
Elevate the affected area as much as possible.
You can use muscle rub cream like Tiger Balm, Icy Hot, or Ben Gay in most minor injuries.

If you have severe pain, swelling, bruising, cannot move a limb, feel numbness or tingling, cannot walk, cannot move the injured area, or have any other worrisome symptoms then please seek urgent medical care.

Email Nurse Becca at Nurse@CulverPediatrics.com to schedule an ear piercing appointment. Ear piercing services cost $100 and are NOT covered by Culver Summer Schools and Camps. You will need to enroll and enter your credit card information before receive ear piercing services.

For summer camp staff we do not offer management of chronic care conditions such as chronic pain, blood pressure, ADHD, depression, anxiety, thyroid, diabetes, or other long-term management issues. We WILL NOT REFILL chronic care or mental health medications unless the employee contracts for a private consult. Please plan ahead so you bring enough of your medications for the entire time you are at Culver Summer Camp. Call your home doctor who prescribed these medications if you need refills.

Our contract with Culver Summer Schools and Camps is exclusively for their employees. Family members not employed by CSSC are not covered. We do offer short term summer memberships for children residing in Culver during summer and Urgent Care for non-members. Email us for more information.

Unless the staff member contracts with Culver Peds directly, we do not offer college physicals, sports physicals, work physicals, preventative health wellness visits, disability documentation, lifestyle or weight loss management, or third party letters. We can offer these services if the Culver Summer staff member contracts directly with Culver Peds.

Yes! We offer free samples of some over the counter medications, supplements, and creams for Culver Summer staff. Stop by the Culver Summer Clinic at Eagle Stadium during office hours to grab free samples
Services Offered At Low Cost
These additional services may incur an additional fee billed to the CSSC employee’s credit card on file. These services will not be offered if there is no credit card on file.
On-Site Pharmacy
We carry common antibiotics, prescription creams, steroids, anti-nausea tablets, and other common prescription and over the counter medications at our clinic. We can do injectable antibiotics, ketorolac, and steroids for a low fee $25. The cost of the medication is billed to the employee’s credit card on file. We also offer free samples of some medications and creams. Be sure to ask!
Send-Out Lab Services
For any labs sent to Pathgroup, our laboratory services partner, employees have the option to either self-pay a discounted rate or Pathgroup can bill the employee’s insurance. Please note we do not make any guarantees about insurance coverage or involve ourselves in insurance billing. Email Summer@CulverPediatrics.com to schedule blood work.
Vaccines
We offer vaccines at no additional cost with insurance coverage. If you do not have insurance, we offer most routine vaccinations at cost, which can range from $20 to $300, depending on which vaccine you need. The exception is the Tdap (tetanus/whooping cough) vaccine. We offer this at no cost.
Services NOT Included or Offered
Physicals/Workers Comp
Unless the staff member contracts with Culver Peds directly, we do not offer college physicals, sports physicals, preventative health wellness visits, lifestyle or weight loss management. We can offer these services for our standard fee. We do not sign, process, or complete worker’s compensation forms. We do not complete any forms that require a physical or statement of health unless the staff member contracts with us directly.
Chronic / Mental Health
For summer camp staff we do not offer management of chronic care conditions such as chronic pain, blood pressure, ADHD, depression, anxiety, thyroid, diabetes, or other long-term management issues. We will not refill chronic care or mental health medications unless the employee contracts for a private consult.
Family Members
Our contract with Culver Summer Schools and Camps is exclusively for their employees. Family members not employed by CSSC are not covered. We do offer short term summer memberships for children residing in Culver during summer and Urgent Care for non-members. Email or text us for more information.
Emergency Care
We are NOT set up for medical emergencies. We do not carry resuscitation supplies such as IV fluids. We do not carry narcotics on site. We can take several hours to respond to a message during the day. For an acutely life- or limb- threatening emergency, the employee should call 911, campus safety, or proceed to the nearest emergency department.
Medical Grade Ear Piercing Available
Cost is $100. Email Nurse Becca to schedule yours. All genders and ages welcome. Must have credit card on file.
How To Stay Healthy This Summer
1) Elderberry-Vitamin C-Zinc Supplements
3) Eat primarily fruits, veggies especially greens, whole grains like brown rice or quinoa, legumes (beans, garbanzos, lentils), nuts, seeds, and nut butters. Fill at least 3/4 of your plate with these types of foods.
4) Wash hands and use hand sanitizer through the day.
5) Daily ginger tea or ginger shots
6) Drink at least 90 oz of water daily
7) Stay home if you are sick to rest, hydrate, and to keep your colleagues healthy. If you cannot stay home, wear a mask and wash your hands frequently to curb the spread of infection.
